I just got the confirmation from UALR that we are going to be able to hold the Mathletes Competition for all three rounds there again this year. I really appreciate the efforts of Deborah Webster in helping secure the Student Center again this year. Here are the dates and times for all three rounds:
Round 1 – Tuesday, February 26th – 10AM-Noon
Round 2 – Tuesday, March 5th – 10AM-Noon
Championship Round – Tuesday, March 12th – 5:30-7:30PM
We had a great Championship Round tonight with five wonderful teams competing. The 2012 Mathletes Champion is Jefferson Team 1! They scored a perfect 40/40 on their tests. Second place went to Don Roberts Team 1 who scored 38/40 and beat Carver Team 1 who also scored 38/40 in a Sudden Death Round. Don Roberts Team 2 took 4th place by scoring 37/40 and beat Carver Team 2 who also scored 37/40 in a Sudden Death Round. Congratulations to all five teams! A huge THANKS goes out to UALR, LRSD – Math Department, math coaches, team coordinators, teachers, principals, and parents for all of your support. We are already looking forward to Mathletes Challenge 2013! Check back tomorrow for pictures from tonight’s Championship!

A huge round of thanks goes out to all involved in the Mathletes Challenge. We had a super successful Round 2. Congratulations to all ten teams that competed in this Round. It was another close round with three teams tied for fifth place at the end of the competition. We had to go through two Sudden Death Rounds to eventually determine the winter. Check out our official logo for 2012! We’ve changed the name from “M-ath”letes Challenge to Mathletes Challenge and the design of the logo itself is a bit different from years past. The print shop is hard at work now creating our t-shirts. They should have them finished by Friday. Check back soon for more details on t-shirt distribution!
Hello everyone,
It’s that time of year again for the Mathletes Challenge. This will be our seventh annual competition and we hope to have 200+ students compete.
Mathletes Challenge is a competition designed to provide Benchmark Assessment preparation and enrichment to high achieving Little Rock School District students in third, fourth and fifth grade. Students will compete for certificates, ribbons, trophies, and an overall district trophy for the winning Mathletes Challenge team and their school.
Four students compete as a team and represent their schools in this competition. The Challenge is broken into two, 20 minute halves. Teams are given a 20 question test each half. Scores are tabulated and the teams who score the highest move on to the next round of the competition. Eventually five teams will be left competing to become the overall Challenge Champions.
All students receive a Mathletes Challenge 2012 T-shirt upon entry to the competition. Students will receive certificates, ribbons, trophies and winning schools will receive certificates, plaques and trophies. The friendly competition is a lot of fun and we hope that you will be able to participate this year.
Please pass this on to anyone in your building that may be interested in being a team coordinator. If you have any questions, please email or call me. Attached to this email is an informational sheet about the competition which includes a registration form, the rules for the competition and a practice test that is similar to one that students will receive during the real competition.
